Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Estimating Manager to join our Water Civil preconstruction team in one of our Phoenix, Dallas, or St. Louis offices.

You will help develop civil estimates for earthwork, sitework, and yard piping on water and wastewater projects nationwide. The role may lead or manage civil estimates and requires strong math, analytical, and communication skills, along with experience reading drawings and geotechnical reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CM, Architecture or Engineering and 5+ years in estimating or design management.
• Experience reading drawings, specs, and geotechnical reports.
• Civil construction knowledge; water/wastewater project exposure preferred.
• Familiarity with estimating processes and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop or manage civil cost models and GMP estimates for CMAR and Design Build projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs for civil scope.
• Assist with internal estimate reviews and presentation preparation.
• Evaluate bids and prepare scope comparison documents.
• Prepare subcontract exhibits and coordinate with subcontractors.
• Collaborate with engineers to influence project design.
• Build relationships with subcontractors, vendors and clients.
• Review project documents for value engineering and pricing alternatives.
• Communicate scope, materials, and schedule requirements with engineers and owners.
