Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Estimating Manager to join our Water Civil preconstruction team. The role supports estimating, quantity take-offs, and estimate development for water and wastewater treatment plant projects across the country, with offices in Phoenix, Dallas, or St.

Louis. The position may lead civil estimates for earthwork, sitework, and yard piping, collaborating with engineers and internal partners to influence project design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, and/or minimum 5 years of applicable estimating, design management or field management experience.
  • Self-perform civil experience (preconstruction or operations) is strongly desired
  • General technical knowledge of civil construction, with specific experience in water and wastewater treatment plant projects is preferred but not required.
  • General knowledge of construction principles and processes, as well as cost model and GMP processes
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports
  • General knowledge of estimating software including HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, and/or On-Screen Takeoff is preferable, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Strong math and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values while maintaining a "value added" approach to estimating

  • Review of the project documents to identify value engineering suggestions and alternative pricing
  • Communicate with engineers and owners to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimating Manager to join our Water Civil preconstruction team in either one of our Phoenix, Dallas, or St. Louis offices.
