The College of New Caledonia invites applications for a full-time ongoing instructor to teach in the Civil Engineering Technology Program at CNC Prince George. The successful candidate will deliver courses such as CIVE 200, CIVE 210, CIVE 215, CIVE 240, CIVE 270, CIVE 275 and CIVE 295 and contribute to curriculum and student support.

Requirements include a BSc in Civil Engineering or a Civil Engineering Technology diploma, minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Canada or the US, and teaching

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering preferred, but at least a Civil Engineering Technologist diploma required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Canada or the US required.
  • Teaching experience in post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Structural Engineer designation.
  • Willingness to teach courses: CIVE 200, 210, 215, 240, 270, 275, 295.
  • PIDP or equivalent is an asset.
  • Extensive practical Civil Engineering Technology experience is an asset.
  • Registration with or eligibility for EGBC preferred.
  • Ability to integrate electronic learning platforms into the program.

  • Promote a positive, professional learning environment with students and staff.
  • Participate in department activities and CNC goals.
  • Travel within the region as required for the position.

Job description

The College of New Caledonia is looking for a full-time ongoing (probationary) instructor to teach in the Civil Engineering Technology Program.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in the field of Civil Engineering preferred, but at least a minimum of a Civil Engineering Technologist diploma required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work-related experience in Canada or the US required
  • Preference will be given to those candidates who are current in the field of Civil Engineering and who have proven teaching experience
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with a Struct. Eng. designation
  • The successful candidate should be comfortable teaching the following courses: CIVE 200: Socio-Environmental Factors in Engineering, CIVE 210: Structural Design I, CIVE 215: Structural Design II, CIVE 240: Road Design, CIVE 270: Project and Construction Management I, CIVE 275: Project and Construction Management II and CIVE 295: Industry Project
  • Completion of the Provincial Instructor’s Diploma Program ( PIDP ) or equivalent would be considered an asset
  • Extensive relevant practical Civil Engineering Technology experience is an asset
  • Registration with, or eligible for registration with EGBC as a Struct. Eng. is preferred
  • Computer literacy with a desire to incorporate electronic learning platforms into overall program curriculum and courses is required for this program

This position may require travel throughout the region and as such, the successful incumbent will be required to hold a valid BC driver’s license.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Hiring criteria shall include professional qualifications, professional experience, teaching experience, college contributions, community awareness and personal attributes as far as they are applicable to the job classification in question.

Salary $73,879 - $87,659 Commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience
