Job summary

Short Elliott Hendrickson in Omaha, NE is seeking a Civil Engineering Technician to join our Civil team. You’ll assist engineers with planning and design tasks and provide field oversight on transportation and municipal projects.

You’ll draft drawings, prepare schematics, calculate quantities, and help maintain project documentation. The role blends in-office design with on-site inspections, offering hands-on experience with seasoned engineers and contractors while supporting community

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel for project meetings and site visits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers with planning and design tasks and field-based project oversight.
  • Prepare drawings, schematics, and exhibits for project reports and plans.
  • Calculate quantities and cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Monitor construction activities to support compliance with plans and specs.
  • Document daily field and inspection activities, including material sampling.
  • Assist with preconstruction and progress meetings and project updates.
  • Maintain accurate, timely project documentation and reporting.
