Job summary

Wright-Pierce, an award-winning environmental engineering firm, seeks a licensed Civil Engineering State Group Leader to manage the Florida Civil group and drive strategic growth in Florida. The role supports multiple offices (Tampa, Jacksonville, Maitland) and oversees municipal civil projects, stormwater and roadwork, with emphasis on design, planning, and staff development.

The candidate must have 15+ years of civil engineering experience, Florida PE licensure, and a BS in Civil Engineering;

Qualifications

• 15 years of civil engineering experience is required.
• Florida Professional Engineer licensure is required.
• B.S. in Civil Engineering; MS degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and growth of the Florida Civil group.
• Provide overall project guidance for municipal civil projects.
• Oversee technical design aspects and creation of site plans and construction documents.
• Ensure project quality and adherence to standards.

Job description

Wright-Pierce, an award-winning, multi-discipline environmental engineering firm specializing in water, wastewater and civil infrastructure, is seeking a licensed Civil Engineering State Group Leader to join our Florida Civil group. This role would manage the Florida Civil engineering staff, manage municipal civil engineering projects, and shepherd the strategic growth plan of civil engineering in the state. This role can work out of our Tampa, Jacksonville or Maitland (preferred), FL offices.

Responsibilities

• Strategic plan advancement and growth of the civil engineering group
• Overall project guidance for stormwater management systems, streets, roadway design and rehabilitations, and site improvement projects
• Overseeing technical and design aspects of projects including drafting, reviewing, finalizing preliminary and final site plans and construction documents
• Oversight of open channel, gravity pipe, pressure pipe flow hydraulics and pump station design, hydrology/hydraulic studies, project schedules, storm drain reports
• Displaying technical expertise while adhering to established policies and procedures
• Administering project quality and design standards for basic to moderately complex projects
• Mentoring of engineering staff, collaborating with internal discipline groups

Experience

• 15 years of increasingly responsible Civil engineering experience required
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) required
• Civil design background that could range from general civil municipal projects, to stormwater, water resources, or transportation
• Municipal project experience in Florida

Certifications

• Florida Professional Engineer licensure required

Education

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering or similar required
• M.S. degree considered a plus
