Job summary

Lochmueller Group is seeking an experienced Rail Project Manager to lead rail-focused projects for public agencies, Class I railroads, short lines, and industrial clients. You will guide projects from initiation through delivery, manage scope and budgets, and coordinate with clients to meet goals.

The role requires 10+ years in rail engineering or transportation project management; PE license is preferred. The team values collaboration, accountability, and quality in a people-centric firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in rail engineering, rail infrastructure, or transportation-related project management.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, but not required.
• Experience managing projects for rail owners, public agencies, or industrial clients.
• Experience with CSX, Norfolk Southern, and/or Union Pacific is highly desired.
• Strong understanding of rail design principles, construction practices, and applicable regulations (e.g., FRA, AREMA, or similar).
• Demonstrated ability to lead project teams, manage multiple projects, and drive projects to successful completion.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Lochmueller Group has a great opportunity for an experienced civil engineering and project manager to join our Transportation team as a Rail Project Manager. This position will be responsible for leading and delivering rail and rail-adjacent infrastructure projects, including work for public agencies, Class I railroads, short lines, and industrial rail clients. This is a great opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead a variety of rail-related projects while working in a collaborative, people-centric, and values-driven firm. This position can be based out of any of the following locations: Dallas - Fort Worth, TX; Overland Park, KS; Omaha, NE; or Atlanta, GA.
