Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Denver, CO is seeking an Engineering Intern to support standard engineering tasks within the Water market. You will assist with design updates, data entry, and presentation tasks while working with lead engineers on varied projects.

The role requires pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, ABET accreditation preferred, and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, with opportunities to grow within a leading engineering firm.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Active involvement in campus, community or other volunteer activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Description

Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties as assigned. Specific assignments and project work vary depending on the market segments. Please see below for information on each market:

Water

The Water group is responsible for the planning and design of facilities and processes related to drinking water supply, treatment and distribution, wastewater treatment, stormwater management and more. This includes services for all levels of government and a variety of industrial clients.

  • Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentation.
  • Assist with responses to general questions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
  • Present solutions to concerns.
  • Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
  • ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Compensation

$19.00-35.00 Hourly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.
