Job summary

Primera, a people-first engineering firm, seeks a civil engineering intern in Lisle, IL. You will develop skills in storm drainage, earthwork calculations, and cost estimation while drafting plans in CAD software.

You will work alongside transportation engineers and gain real project experience in a collaborative office environment. You must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be a junior or above.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with GPA 3.0+.
• Junior standing or higher in curriculum; eager to learn and contribute.
• Prior internship is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations for storm drainage, earthwork quantities, and cost estimates.

WHO YOU ARE

You’re studying civil engineering. You're enrolled in an ABET-accredited bachelor's degree program. You're at least a Junior or more advanced in your curriculum, you’re passionate about what you’re learning and boast a GPA of 3.0 or above.

You’re an eager student looking to gain hands-on experience working in an office environment. You’re highly-motivated and looking to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom toward delivering unique solutions for real-world clients. Prior internship experience is a plus, but definitely not required.

You’re a people person. You’re friendly and have a sense of humor. Connecting with people is important. You’ll work side-by-side Primera’s team of transportation engineering experts.

You are proficient with business and engineering applications. You are knowledgeable in AutoCAD, Civil 3D or geopack; RISA 3D will help you stand out.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll apply what you’re learning. You’ll apply standard engineering practices and techniques to prepare calculations for storm drainage, earthwork quantities, and cost estimates. You’ll also perform plan drafting using CAD software.

You’ll gain well-rounded experience. Working on all types of projects, you’ll be mentored by experts in your field to enhance your current classroom curriculum. We learn by doing, so you’ll be given a good deal of responsibility. You’ll be in charge of project documentation and project filing, as well as plan drafting using CAD. You’ll also learn a thing or two about state and local standards and regulations.
