The role emphasizes learning through hands-on tasks, shop drawing reviews, and participation in permit materials preparation, with mentorship and a structured intern program.

Qualifications

• Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with AutoCAD or Civil 3D (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and organization of drawings, specifications, and project documentation under supervision.
• Support investigations and planning by data collection, basic analyses, and routine calculations.
• Contribute to technical reports by drafting sections and incorporating supervisor feedback.
• Assist with project/construction activities including reviewing shop drawings for general compliance and maintaining records.
• Gather and analyze project data related to design alternatives and site conditions.
• Prepare reports and permit materials, researching information and creating basic graphics.
• Perform basic engineering calculations under supervision using standard methods.
