Job summary

Core States Group, based in Tampa, FL, seeks a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to support EV charging infrastructure projects and civil design tasks on real-world sites.

As part of our Electric Vehicle Infrastructure team, you will gain hands-on experience with site development, permitting, and collaboration across disciplines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as a junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Interest in land development or EV infrastructure projects.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective communicator and collaborative team player.
• Eager to learn in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site development and civil design for EV charging infrastructure projects.
• Support grading, drainage, utility, and stormwater design efforts.
• Participate in site layout, permitting, and utility coordination activities.
• Conduct site visits and field observations to understand existing site conditions.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, architectural, and structural engineers.
• Assist with preparing construction documents and engineering deliverables.
• Learn how civil engineering supports EV infrastructure from concept through construction.

What You’ll Do

As a Civil Engineering Intern on our Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (EVI) team, you'll work alongside experienced engineers and project teams supporting EV charging infrastructure projects across commercial, retail, and fleet markets. Throughout the internship, you will:

• Assist with site development and civil design for EV charging infrastructure projects
• Support grading, drainage, utility, and stormwater design efforts
• Participate in site layout, permitting, and utility coordination activities
• Conduct site visits and field observations to better understand existing site conditions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, architectural, and structural engineers
• Assist with preparing construction documents and engineering deliverables
• Learn how civil engineering supports electric vehicle infrastructure projects from concept through construction

Software & Technical Skills You’ll Learn

Interns will gain hands‑on experience using industry‑standard mechanical engineering software and tools, including:

• AutoCAD
• Microsoft Excel
• GIS and mapping tools
• Utility coordination and site design workflows
