Job summary

ATCS is hiring Civil Engineering Interns for our 2027 Summer Internship Program in Herndon, VA. These full-time, hybrid on-site roles provide mentorship and exposure to real-world projects while you work with experienced staff.

Responsibilities include assisting engineers, preparing design documents with CAD tools, collecting and analyzing data, and collaborating with teams. Candidates pursuing a Civil Engineering BS should apply; internship experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering required or in progress.
• Internship experience preferred but not required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
• Exposure to CAD tools (AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Microstation) is a plus.

ATCS is gearing up for our 2027 Summer Internship Program!

We are looking for hard working, motivated Civil Engineering Interns companywide. These internships will be full-time, hybrid roles for the on-site roles for the 2027 summer.

We expose our interns to a variety of technical and administrative tasks, allowing you to be involved with several facets of various projects. The goal is to provide exposure to real world projects, as well as mentorship opportunities working alongside our talented employees.

Please note on your application which disciplines are of interest to you so that we may appropriately match you with your desired technical team. We also ask that you indicate your desired ATCS office location.

Duties:

• Assist engineers and engineering staff in various project support roles
• Using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
• Assist in collecting, preparing, and analyzing data
• Collaborate effectively with team members
• General administrative support is required to drive projects forward
• Perform any additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering
• Previous internship experience preferred but not required
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
• Exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Microstation is a PLUS
