Job summary

The City of Ann Arbor's Engineering Department is seeking an Engineering Temp - Student Intern (Architecture) to support civil design, construction, and close-out of public improvements such as water mains, sidewalks, roads, and pavement markings.

You will work with multiple project managers on utility and road projects, perform tasks like data entry, plan review, meeting preparation, permit applications, field data collection, and field reviews while enrolled in an engineering program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Technology, Surveying or related field
• Valid driver's license for field assignments
• Ability to work in a team and take instruction
• Willingness to perform construction inspection in all weather conditions
• Able to document and communicate technical information clearly
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with data entry, public communication, and project coordination
• Review plans and submittals; prepare meeting agendas and minutes
• Process permit applications and MDOT project preparation
• Handle construction progress payments and invoice approvals
• Collect field data and perform field reviews
