Job summary

Idaho Transportation Department offers civil engineering internship opportunities across multiple duty stations in Idaho, including Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston, Boise, Shoshone, Pocatello and Idaho Falls. Positions are limited to five months or less, or fewer than twenty hours per week, with potential summer or year-round work.

Applicants should indicate preferred locations and if summer-only is desired. Interns assist with design, data collection, CAD drafting in ORD, site inspections, materials

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited engineering program (civil preferred).
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze information, make decisions and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist with design projects for transportation infrastructure.
• Collect data, perform analyses to support planning decisions.
• CAD drafting using ORD and other tools under supervision.
• Participate in site visits, inspect progress and document findings.
• Support traffic studies and report preparation.
• Collaborate with engineers, planners and project managers.
