Job summary

OHM Advisors in Detroit is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience across transportation, municipal engineering, environmental and water resources projects. You will apply classroom knowledge while collaborating with seasoned engineers on real-world tasks.

Responsibilities include supporting project teams, reviewing site plans, assisting with construction observation, surveying on-site, and contributing to reports and data gathering.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's program in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, GIS, CADD/Design Technology, or a related technical field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; spreadsheet experience preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Revit, ArcGIS, or other relevant software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support project teams in applying engineering and design principles and techniques.
• Assist with reviewing site plans for compliance with applicable standards.
• Participate in construction observation to ensure project specifications are met.
• Assist survey crews on-site and gain exposure to land surveying methods and field techniques.
• Contribute to the preparation of reports, exhibits, and technical documentation.
• Gather and organize data from field visits or research to support project planning.
• Collaborate with project teams and attend internal meetings to gain exposure to real-world project workflows.
