Job summary

Kairos Power is offering a Summer 2027 Civil Structures internship to support design, analysis, and development of reactor structures. You will gain hands-on experience with engineering analysis, HPC, CAD, and reporting while collaborating with experienced engineers on first-of-a-kind technologies.

The role emphasizes applying building codes, performing FEM analyses with ANSYS, developing 3D models, and contributing to safety-focused design reviews within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Demonstrated application of technical skills outside of the classroom via labs, research, or internships is highly preferred.
• Experience with CAD software; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
• Experience with explicit dynamics analysis is a plus.
• Python or Excel Macros scripting is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply building codes, structural design codes, and engineering standards.
• Perform engineering calculations and structural analyses using hand methods and FEA software such as ANSYS.
• Evaluate designs under static, dynamic, thermal, and fatigue loading.
• Develop and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software.
• Prepare engineering reports and presentations supporting design and analysis activities.
• Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to support design development and testing.
