Bohler's Harrisburg, PA office is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) for Summer 2027 to gain hands-on experience on real site design projects. You will work with engineers and project managers, utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D to support concept and construction phases.

This internship emphasizes mentorship, professional growth, and exposure to commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil-related engineering.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently and with teams.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred; training provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm.
• Understand stages of land development and site design processes.
• Apply AutoCAD Civil 3D to design concept, grading, stormwater, utilities, and erosion control plans.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and PMs to advance projects.
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and the engineering process.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute design/process improvements.

About The Role

Bohler’s office in Harrisburg, PA is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world site design projects. As a Summer 2027 intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands‑on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed‑use developments.

What You’ll Do

• Experience the day‑to‑day operations of a civil engineering and site design firm
• Learn the stages of the land development and site design process
• Enhance your technical skills with hands‑on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:
  • Concept plans
  • Grading plans
  • Stormwater management plans
  • Utility system plans
  • Soil erosion and sediment control plans
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward
• Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions
• Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action
• Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements
