Responsibilities include design support, quantity take-offs, specifications preparation, and field-related activities. This paid internship emphasizes mentorship and hands-on learning for a well-rounded civil engineer-in-training.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work well independently or on a team.

Responsibilities

• Assistance with infrastructure and site design including street plans, grading, erosion control, stormwater facilities, sanitary sewer and water distribution systems.
• Create and update detailed civil, structural, and electrical work order layouts under supervision for official drawings and records.
• Assist with quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
• Assist with preparation of specifications.
• Complete design work with licensed engineering approval when required; field surveys, material procurement, work orders, permits and contracts.
• Maintain understanding of local, state, and federal requirements, codes, standards, and internal procedures.
• Assist with stormwater management inspections.
• Participate in land surveying/construction staking under a surveyor’s guidance.
