Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern to support civil engineering tasks at our Vancouver, WA location. Responsibilities include filing, data entry, documentation, and creating PowerPoint presentations for project teams.

The role emphasizes data collection, analysis for continuous improvement, and presenting solutions to project concerns. Ideal candidates are pursuing a Civil Engineering degree, with strong communication, leadership, and a drive to learn in a consulting environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentation.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
