Job summary

NTH Consultants, Ltd. in Northville, MI, is seeking an assistant to support the structural team for Summer 2027. You will help prepare calculations, drawings, contract documents, and reports.

This role includes field services, data collection and condition assessment of infrastructure, site inspections, soil testing, and assisting with laboratory testing of soils. Candidates must be willing to travel and lift up to 50 lbs. Training will be provided for site work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–3 years of education or experience in Civil/Geotechnical/Construction/Structural Engineering.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work in a team and independently.
• Accurate, dependable, and strong organizational/time management skills.
• Able to walk/stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willing to work on construction sites and travel to job sites and NTH offices in Michigan.
• May enter confined spaces after appropriate training.
• Willing to climb ladders as needed.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the structural team in preparing structural calculations, drawings, contract documents, and reports.
• Assist in field services including data collection and condition assessment of existing infrastructure.
• Monitor construction operations including rehabilitation, earthwork, and foundation installations; assist geotechnical site investigations and soil testing.
• Perform field quality control testing for construction activities: soil testing, density testing, and testing of concrete and asphalt; assist with lab and field testing as required.
