Job summary

Schnabel is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support our geotechnical and earth-related projects in Austin, Texas. The role focuses on broadening practical knowledge under supervision of senior engineers, with May–August 2027 as the internship window.

You will assist in geotechnical investigations, prepare construction plans, support earthquake analyses, and participate in field work, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor's program.
• Strong oral and written communication and computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist geotechnical investigations and analyses, including wall/excavation support and reinforced concrete design.
• Prepare construction plans.
• Support advanced earthquake engineering analyses.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing.
• Some travel may be required.
