Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. seeks Civil/Geotechnical Engineering Interns for its Madison, WI office for the Summer 2027 intern program. This paid full-time internship runs June through August 2027 (flexible) with potential to transition into a full-time role after graduation.

Under supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders, interns will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and technologists on diverse projects across geotechnical, stormwater, and civil disciplines.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum GPA not specified in ad; applicants should meet program requirements.
• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's license.
• Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D is preferred.
• Familiar with reviewing project drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations to support designs including geotechnical, stormwater, and general civil aspects.
• Perform field investigations and construction oversight for environmental compliance, geotechnical, and land development projects.
• Support design of stormwater management systems, layout renewable energy systems, and solid waste management systems.
• Perform various project tasks including evaluating regulatory requirements, developing quantity take-offs, cost estimates, research, subcontractor procurement support, etc.
• Apply quality assurance and quality control processes for deliverables.
• Support the preparation of reports, plans and specifications for client and governmental approvals and construction.
• Perform data entry, data management, data evaluation, and data presentation.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2027 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor or Associate Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Interest in renewable energy, solid waste, or other applicable fields.
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Possesses solid technical and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated, detail orientated person.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Honest, fun, hard-working and ready to learn and grow.
• Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D.
• Experience on construction sites performing inspections/testing.
• Familiar with reviewing project drawings and specifications.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
