Job summary

Core States Group is seeking a Civil Engineering Designer student to join our team and advance land development concepts from concept to construction. You will collaborate with engineers to deliver designs and documents, preparing plans, reports, and presentations while learning hands-on site development.

• Senior student graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in Winter 2026 or Spring 2027.
• EIT is a plus but not required.
• Experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to identify practical uses for AI tools to improve team processes.

Responsibilities

• Apply civil engineering concepts to develop solutions for project challenges.
• Prepare construction plans, cost estimates, reports, and other documents.
• Coordinate with review agencies, clients, and sub-consultants for permit applications.
• Prepare grading plans, profiles, road design, and details using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Research regulatory requirements and design standards.
• Perform detailed calculations for storm water facilities, utilities, and roadways.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and project presentation materials.
• Assist project engineers in completing projects on time and within budget.
• Attend project meetings.

This role is paid on an hourly basis with a range of $33.00 - $44.00 and is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable laws. The expected approximate annualized compensation range is $70,000 - $90,000.

Summary Of Position

We're looking for an ambitious Civil Engineering student who's ready to launch their career as a Civil Engineering Designer. You'll join a collaborative team and help bring exciting land development projects from concept to construction.

• Currently enrolled as a Senior, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in Winter 2026 or Spring 2027
• EIT is a plus but not required
• Experience working with Civil 3D and AutoCAD software is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to identify practical uses for company-approved AI tools to improve team processes, support better decisions, and increase efficiency
• Demonstrated ability to review AI-generated content for accuracy, protect confidential information, and remain responsible for the final work product

Work Location

This is an onsite role based out of the following Core States Group offices: Kent, WA; Bellevue, WA; Richland, WA; Roseville, CA; Bentonville, AR; Frisco, TX; or Philadelphia, PA. Only candidates in close proximity to these locations will be considered.
