Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 0-4 years of civil engineering experience.
  • Strong computer skills: MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, MS Project.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with alternative studies.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data to complete a task.
  • Perform design computations.
  • Assist in designing projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.
  • Assist with developing the project quantities for construction cost estimate.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction.

Position summary

A career-minded engineer, looking towards advancement, is needed to join JMT's fast-growing Water/Wastewater consultant engineering practice. Employee will assist with engineering designs in the Water/Wastewater field through working knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards and processes; conduct multiple design projects simultaneously; and develop, analyze and document critical design elements. The selected candidate will become part of an established team of engineers working on exciting water mains designs, water distribution projects, large vault designs, flow monitoring, development reviews, and comprehensive water and sewer plans, Water/Wastewater treatment, and pump station projects. Employee is expected to provide quality engineering evaluation and design services efficiently with adequate supervision to support the project team's objective and provide customer satisfaction on all projects, delivering projects of high quality on schedule and within budget.

Compensation for this position is $40.00-50.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist with alternative studies

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
  • 0-4 years of experience in civil engineering or related field
  • Strong computer skills are required: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project are a plus
  • Written and oral communication skills
Qualifications Preferred
  • Engineer Intern certification or a passing grade on the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
  • Related experience
  • Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
