Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. seeks a civil engineer to design projects using general engineering principles. You will interpret, organize, and coordinate assignments under supervision, with field exposure as needed.

Requirements include a ABET-accredited civil engineering degree and 0–5 years of civil engineering experience. Proficiency in design software and MS Office is expected, along with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from ABET-accredited program.
• 0–5 years of civil engineering experience.
• Proficient in discipline-specific design software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with alternative studies.
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data.
• Perform design computations.
• Assist in designing projects per client specs using design software and drawing tools.
• Assist in developing project quantities for construction cost estimates.
• Assist in preparing engineering documents for advertisement and construction.

Job description

Position summary:

Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments.

Compensation is $39.00 – $60.00/hourly, commensurate with experience, education, and licensure. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Essential functions and responsibilities:

• Assist with alternative studies

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
• 0-5 years of experience in civil engineering or related field

Qualifications preferred:

• Engineer-in-training certification
• Related experience
• Experience working with local clients at the county and state level

Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
