Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Civil/Environmental Engineer to lead water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Southern California. You will participate in planning, design development, calculations, and project development for pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, tanks, wells, hydraulics, and treatment facilities.

The role requires a CA-registered P.E. with 5+ years in the field, strong technical writing, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D or MicroStation, MS Office, and GIS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering with emphasis on water resources or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration in California (P.E.).
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling of water distribution and sewer systems.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with GIS and other engineering software is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership and junior staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Support public and private sector water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Southern California.
  • Work on water and sewer master plans, pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, and treatment facilities.
  • Collaborate on planning, design development, calculations, and project development.
  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for pipelines and pump stations.
  • Conduct technical evaluations supporting water and wastewater planning and design.
  • Prepare and review memos, reports, drawings, specifications, submittals, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary internal and external project teams
  • Lead design-build, emergency, and traditional project delivery where appropriate.

Job description


  • Support public and private sector clients with water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Southern California

  • Work on water and sewer master plans; pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, tanks, wells, hydraulic structures, and water and wastewater treatment facility designs

  • Work as part of project teams on planning, design development, calculations, presentations, and overall project development

  • Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater pipelines and pump stations

  • Conduct technical evaluations supporting water and wastewater planning and design

  • Prepare and review technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, submittals, and miscellaneous contract documents

  • Assist technical marketing during procurement of key projects

  • Communicate and coordinate with multidisciplinary internal and external project teams

  • Coordinate with internal and external partners in organizational leadership initiatives

  • Participate in design-build, emergency, and traditional design-bid-build project delivery


Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering with an emphasis on water resources and/or environmental engineering, or related engineering field

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience

  • Professional Engineer registration in California (P.E.)

  • Good technical writing and communication skills

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation

  • Proficient in hydraulic modeling of water distribution and sewer collection systems

  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Experience with GIS and other engineering software is a plus

  • History of leadership and active participation in professional or company organizations

  • Successful junior staff management and development

  • Interest in working on a variety of projects supporting the Water and Wastewater Department
