Summary

We are seeking a Project Engineer I or II to join our Water business line in Houston! This is a great opportunity for a PE interested in working with a dynamic team on a wide range of projects for our Water-Wastewater Team, while mentoring junior team members and providing guidance under the direction of a Project Manager. We specialize in providing planning, design, and construction phase engineering services on projects including wastewater treatment plants, wastewater collection systems, drinking water plants, and water distribution systems. You will work alongside knowledgeable engineers and professionals in an environment that fosters collaboration and career development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Use professional judgment to direct and independently complete assigned engineering designs.
2. Assist or act as Project Manager, assigning tasks, scheduling, answering questions, and monitoring progress of team members.
3. Check the accuracy of tasks completed by engineering and technical staff through formal and informal QA/QC processes.
4. Make major design decisions that meet external customer needs while coordinating impacts on related efforts.
5. Identify technical, schedule, or financial issues proactively and seek resolutions with the Project Manager or client.
6. Assist in bidding or contractor selection if authorized by the Project Manager.
7. Monitor construction activities and supervise field personnel involved in data collection or specific projects.
8. Respond to contractor questions, issue project addenda, and recommend or prepare change orders.
9. Participate in creating engineering service proposals, including estimating time schedules and costs.
10. Sign and seal engineering documents as an authorized company representative.
11. Communicate technically with clients independently.
12. Act as technical expert on assigned projects and as Project Manager on smaller or specialized projects.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering from an accredited university, and professional registration (P.E.) in one or more states, or ability to obtain within six months.
• Seven or more years of design/engineering experience with demonstrated authority to sign engineering documents.
• Strong technical verbal and written communication skills, with ability to read technical literature and plans.
• Proficiency in operating technical analysis and computer equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, applying professional knowledge to routine and complex tasks.
• Current registered Professional Engineer certification in applicable states or ability to obtain within six months.
• Previous wastewater experience required.
