Job summary

STV Incorporated in Charlotte, NC is seeking a licensed Civil Engineer with 8+ years of experience to design and coordinate large water, wastewater, and utility projects.

You will prepare preliminary layouts, construction plans, and specifications, lead interagency coordination and public meetings, perform field assessments, and support permitting and right‑of‑way activities; the firm values professional licensure and continuing education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of civil, water/wastewater, or utility engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Experience with the preparation of construction plans and specifications for infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with conducting field assessments and investigations for preliminary engineering studies.
  • Experience with water and wastewater pipeline design and utility relocation/coordination.
  • NCDOT or municipal infrastructure experience preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads preferred.

  • Prepare design and construction plans and specifications for infrastructure projects.
  • Design and coordinate water, wastewater, power, gas, and fiber optic utility lines for large projects.
  • Perform engineering inspections during construction of large water and roadway projects.
  • Prepare utility plans, specifications, cost estimates, and review contractor changes.
  • Lead stakeholder reporting and interagency communication for NCDOT, municipalities, and clients.
  • Assist with permitting, easements, right-of-way, and construction-phase coordination.
  • Prepare supplemental engineering support documents and inspections.
  • Maintain project records throughout project duration.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Prepare preliminary layouts for facility plans, stormwater systems, underground utilities (existing and proposed), grading and drainage systems using surveys and field investigations
  • Prepare design and construction plans and specifications for infrastructure projects such as municipal facilities (maintenance buildings), stormwater piping systems, open water drainage systems, roadways, potable water systems and sewer systems
  • Design and coordinate the design and changes for water, wastewater, power, gas and fiber optic utility lines and their interactions for large water and large roadway improvement projects
  • Perform engineering inspections of infrastructure projects, including utility line relocations, during the construction phase of large water and large roadway improvement projects
  • Prepare utility plans, profiles, specifications, cost estimates, review shop drawings and review contractor change requests
  • Lead the stakeholder reporting and interagency communication efforts for NCDOT, municipalities, utility owners, contractors, and project stakeholders via public meetings, client meetings, and reporting for the client as the technical liaison
  • Assist with permitting, easements, right-of-way, and construction-phase coordination
  • Prepare supplemental engineering support documents, permit applications and inspections
  • Maintain project records throughout the duration of projects

Compensation

Compensation Range: $99,431.03 - $113,635.46
