Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Reston, Virginia office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join the Surface Water team. This is not a remote position and you will work with multi-disciplinary teams on surface water projects.

You will prepare hydraulic/hydrology studies, drainage reports, and design plans for water resources projects, while contributing to regulatory submittals and master plans. A strong mentoring ability is valued.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of water resources engineering experience.
  • Experience in Stream Restoration Design, Outfall Channel Restoration Design, Pond Retrofit Design.
  • Proficiency using AutoCAD for Site Plan Set Development and ArcPro for engineering analysis.
  • HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Pond Pack, PCSWMM experience.
  • Drainage design and analysis capabilities with MS4 support across VA.
  • Strong understanding of plan submittal requirements for VA jurisdictions.
  • Ability to train and mentor younger staff.

  • Collaborate with jurisdictions and contractors to build professional relationships.

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Reston, Virginia (VA) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 6+ years of experience to join their Surface Water team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities
  • Support our growing water resources practice and will require working with multi-disciplinary teams for a variety of existing and new public and private clients
  • Work in a dynamic team environment on a range of projects including surface water management studies, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, analysis and design, flood studies, bridge hydraulics, green infrastructure planning and design
  • Prepare Hydraulic/Hydrology studies, drainage reports, design documents, and design plans and specifications for water resources projects
  • Technical writing in the form of memorandums, feasibility studies, regulatory submittals (including CLOMR/LOMR submittals to FEMA), and master plans
  • Assist with developing scopes of work and associated budgets
  • Watershed master planning, stormwater master planning
  • Report or planning level documents CIP development
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of engineers and designers on a variety of projects
  • You will flourish on both building meaningful internal and external professional relationships
  • You will work closely and collaboratively with other industry leading professionals, various jurisdictions, and contractors
