Job summary

Chastain & Associates LLC seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to oversee IDOT Phase I–III and municipal transportation projects, while nurturing client relationships and supporting business development.

The role requires a PE license (or ability to obtain) and a Civil Engineering degree, with 10+ years’ experience in road/bridge design. Hybrid work options are available in Schaumburg and nearby offices.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain in Illinois.
• Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil preferred).
• 10+ years on IDOT roadway/bridge design and mentoring civil staff.
• Hybrid schedule with locations including Decatur, IL; Rockford, IL; Lafayette, IN; Schaumburg, IL.
• Proficiency with MicroStation/Open Roads and AutoCAD Civil 3D; familiarity with Adobe.
• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work with integrity.

Responsibilities

• Oversee IDOT Phase I–III and County/Municipal transportation projects.
• Manage client relationships and pursue new opportunities with Business Development.
• Lead and mentor civil engineering staff and ensure project scope and quality.

What You’ll Do As The Transportation Project Manager

You will oversee multiple IDOT phase I, II or phase III projects across various offices while managing and tracking the project backlog.

• Manage client relationships, cultivating new business connections, and collaborating with the Business Development Team to identify IDOT PTB items to pursue.
• Managing current IDOT Phase I and II engineering projects as well as County and Municipal Transportation projects.
• Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and alignment with business objectives.

What You’ll Bring To The Table

• Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) License in the state of Illinois or ability to obtain
• Education: A Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering is preferred)
• Experience: 10+ years of experience working on IDOT roadway and bridge design projects, and managing/mentoring civil engineering staff
• Location: Decatur, IL - Rockford, IL- Lafayette, IN - Schaumburg, IL - Hybrid schedule is available
• Software skills: Microsoft 365, MicroStation/Open Roads and Adobe (AutoCAD Civil 3D beneficial)
• Adaptability: excel at adapting to changing project requirements.
