Job description

Join Larimer County’s The Ranch Events Complex as a Civil Engineer!

We are seeking a solution oriented, innovative, and motivated engineer with strong technical, communication, and project management skills who enjoys solving complex challenges and guiding multiple projects from planning and design through construction and closeout.

As a member of The Ranch Phase II Project Team, you will help manage the design and construction of complex site/civil and vertical infrastructure projects, working closely with the Project Manager, architects, engineers, contractors, County staff, and other stakeholders. This role emphasizes collaborative project delivery, early contractor engagement, and coordination to deliver high quality projects while maintaining operations at an active, year-round events complex.

The Ranch Master Plan is a long-term investment in the 315-acre campus, focused on expanding event capabilities, modernizing infrastructure, and enhancing the experience for guests, event organizers, and the community. Phase II includes major capital projects such as a 6,000-seat outdoor amphitheater, a 91,000-square-foot Exposition Hall, outdoor event plaza improvements, and supporting infrastructure.

What Makes This Opportunity Unique

The Ranch Master Plan represents a significant public investment in the future of Northern Colorado’s event and entertainment infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of high-profile capital projects, gain experience with innovative construction methods and collaborative project delivery, and play a key role in shaping a growing regional destination.

At The Ranch in Loveland, CO, we're not just another venue; we're a dynamic hub of entertainment, events, and community engagement. As a member of our team, you'll find yourself at the heart of an operation that seamlessly orchestrates everything from thrilling concerts and captivating trade shows to heartwarming community gatherings and adrenaline-pumping rodeos. Working here isn't just a job; it's an opportunity to be part of something truly special, where every day brings new challenges and exciting experiences. Whether you're coordinating logistics behind the scenes, delighting guests with exceptional service, or contributing creatively to our diverse range of events, you'll be immersed in a fast-paced environment where innovation and passion collide. Join us at The Ranch and embark on a journey where your skills are valued, your ideas are heard, and your contributions make a real difference.

What you'll be doing:
  • Assist with all phases of project oversight, administration, planning, design, budgeting, coordination, project controls, and closeout of assigned engineering projects, ensuring project activities align with established requirements, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate project activities with architects, engineers, and contractors to support effective communication, collaboration, and the timely completion of project deliverables.
  • Engage with project teams throughout the design and construction phases, participating in project meetings, reviewing progress, addressing technical challenges, and supporting coordination among project partners.
  • Develop and review Master Service Agreements, work orders, contract documents, and procurement materials, including Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Facilitate and/or lead consultant and contractor selection processes.
  • Organize and maintain accurate, comprehensive project records, including meeting minutes, design documents, project submittals, daily logs, material testing reports, progress reports, and other project-related documentation.
  • Perform daily field inspections of assigned engineering projects to monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and verify that work is being performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Coordinate construction activities with Ranch operations and event teams to help minimize disruptions to scheduled events, public access, and ongoing campus operations.
What we're looking for:
  • Knowledge of collaborative project delivery methods, including Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC), and other delivery models involving early contractor engagement.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and practices related to site development, utilities, drainage, grading, and vertical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of construction contract administration, including contract documents, RFIs, submittals, schedules of values, payment applications, and change orders.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and techniques used in public infrastructure, utility, and facility improvement projects.
  • Experience with capital project budgeting, cost estimating, scheduling, design coordination, and construction management.
  • Ability to review and prepare engineering plans, studies, profiles, maps, and technical documents.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate plats, engineering plans, studies, models, and technical reports for compliance with applicable County standards, codes, and project requirements.
  • Knowledge of applicable County ordinances and State and Federal laws, codes, regulations, and requirements.

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.
