Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Three years of experience in designing and preparing specifications for civil engineering projects.
• One year of experience in civil engineering field work is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes project scope and requirements.
• Reviews and evaluates field conditions and data.
• Develops and designs engineering solutions.
• Manages preparation of engineering construction plans.
• Ensures construction conforms to plans, specifications, budget, codes and standards.
• Manages and interprets construction projects and plans.
• Creates project documents and maintains records.
• Oversees, supervises, and inspects work of contractors or city workforce.
• Manages and supervises inspectors and staff assigned to projects.
• Determines work priorities and reviews work prepared by others.
• Instructs and mentors project team to meet standards.
• Consults with supervisor on assignments, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
• Initiates training of subordinates and colleagues.
• Represents the department with citizens, agencies or private groups.
• Prepares and evaluates requests for proposals for consultants and materials used by the department.

Education
