In this position, you will be responsible for assigning tasks and ensuring the quality and precision of work outputs. You will offer engineering expertise and evaluate hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) as well as permitting matters pertinent to bridge projects. Your role will involve conducting thorough analyses and quality assurance assessments of water obstructions and encroachments, as well as reviewing and providing feedback on H&H reports linked to permit applications to guarantee adherence to the Department's policies and procedures, along with the regulations set forth by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Furthermore, you will support engineering districts in securing water obstruction and encroachment permits from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, and relevant federal agencies.


Moreover, you will take the lead in representing the department at various meetings and conferences, either personally or by directing your team to do so. You will be tasked with offering technical recommendations, as well as developing and implementing policies and guidance for PennDOT concerning hydrology and hydraulics. Additionally, you will play a key role in the creation of testing protocols and training programs for associated software and computer systems.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty and one year of experience in directing the work of civil engineers.

Special Requirement:

  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
