Job summary

Modjeski and Masters invites a Civil Engineering Intern to support the design and analysis of bridge structures and transportation infrastructure in New Orleans, under experienced engineers.

The role involves assisting with calculations, performing structural analyses, CAD development, and contributing to design reports in a professional environment.

Qualifications

• Student actively pursuing a BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Assist in review and verification of standard structural design calculations.
• Support structural analysis and design of bridge components using engineering software.
• Help develop preliminary design details using CAD software and coordinate with CAD technicians.
• Contribute to design reports by compiling technical information.
• Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, in a professional engineering environment.
• Review and check engineering drawings under supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Gain exposure to design software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Learn and apply relevant design standards including AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, and ACI.

What We’re Looking For

Student who are working towards BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University.

What You’ll Do

As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will support the design and analysis of bridge structures and transportation infrastructure under the supervision of experienced engineers. Your responsibilities may include:

• Assisting in the review and verification of standard structural design calculations.
• Supporting the structural analysis and design of bridge components using engineering software tools.
• Helping develop preliminary design details using CAD software and providing input to CAD technicians for contract plan development.
• Contributing to design reports by compiling relevant technical information.
• Communicating effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, in a professional engineering environment.
• Reviewing and checking engineering drawings under the close supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Gain exposure to structural analysis and design software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Learning and applying relevant design specifications and standards, including AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, and ACI.
