Job summary

Black & Veatch Family of Companies is offering a Civil Engineer Intern position in the United States for a Summer internship focused on site development projects. You will gain hands-on experience across diverse disciplines while supporting design and execution efforts.

The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and learning across projects addressing critical infrastructure challenges, with pre-employment onboarding requirements if selected.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in ABET-accredited civil engineering program with emphasis in structural, environmental, transportation or geotechnical.
• 3.0 GPA preferred.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
• Basic industry knowledge and technology trends.
• Basic knowledge of construction and constructability practices and principles.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, and policies.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary project teams to support design and construction of diverse projects.
• Participates in project coordination meetings and resolves design challenges.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and materials selection.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods.
• Assists with development of project schedules, cost estimates and engineering deliverables.
• Focuses on internal clients' needs while understanding external drivers.
• Develops and applies knowledge of engineering software, design tools, and digital delivery methods.
