Job summary

Wagman Heavy Civil is seeking a Civil Engineer Intern for a summer 2027 assignment. The intern will join the engineering team, shadow senior staff, and support on-site activities with a focus on safety and effective communication.

Reporting to field supervision, the intern will help prepare plans, track quantities, and assist with takeoffs and subcontract coordination while working across multiple project teams to meet deadlines in a safe environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering to join Wagman Heavy Civil team.
• Reporting to direct field supervision; intern will assist with tasks from management and the engineering team.
• Must be able to follow instructions, work independently and communicate effectively.
• Safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with hazards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing work plans.
• Track and record field production quantities.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs for concrete and earthwork operations.
• Coordinate subcontractor work and procure materials/equipment for upcoming work.
• Perform schedule updates and generate project progress reports.
• Perform document control tracking and processing and takeoffs.
• Investigate problems and propose solutions.
• Prepare detailed requisitions for materials and subcontracts.
• Interpret plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors.
• Review shop drawings, draft RFIs, and assist with submittals.
