Job summary

Paradigm Design is seeking a Civil Engineer with EIT to contribute to land development and municipal infrastructure projects in the Grand Rapids area. You will assist in design, drafting, and construction support under licensed engineers, with a path toward PE licensure.

You will leverage AutoCAD Civil 3D and supporting tools to prepare plans, perform calculations, and manage documentation across multiple projects, while coordinating with clients, regulators, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
• Five (5) or more years of civil engineering experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering design-aided programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft programs and Bluebeam; valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings, plans, specifications, and technical construction documents for land development and civil engineering projects.
• Assist with the design and drafting of site development improvements, including site grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, roadway design, and related project infrastructure.
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare engineering plans, layouts, profiles, models, and supporting documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations and prepare supporting technical documentation and reports under the direction of a licensed Professional Engineer.
• Research and evaluate survey information, zoning requirements, utility records, municipal standards, and applicable codes.
• Coordinate project information with internal design teams, consultants, municipalities, utilities, and permitting agencies.
• Participate in project meetings with clients, contractors, consultants, municipalities, and internal staff.
• Assist during construction by supporting responses to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, and performing occasional site observations.
