CIVIL ENGINEER-IN-TRAINING

Position Location - Langdon, ND

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000

Fischer Land Surveying & Engineering of Langdon, ND is seeking an Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering. Our primary service areas include NE ND and NW MN, with projects across ND. We have grown consistently over 28 years, focusing on providing accurate, quality services. As a small firm, every employee plays a vital role, and you will have the opportunity to see projects from conception to construction, including open channel drains, site design, and layout for various facilities.

Work Schedule & Compensation

Full-time, Monday through Friday. Salary depends on experience, within the range of $70,000 to $85,000.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Manage small to mid-size projects, including client and contractor agreements and budgets.
  2. Prepare technical reports, plans, and specifications for construction projects.
  3. Assist in field operations such as construction inspection, surveying, and other field engineering tasks; oversee construction activities and ensure compliance with documents.
  4. Consult with clients and contractors to develop strategies for civil engineering design and support; oversee contractors and subcontractors as needed.
  5. Collect field survey data, including locations, measurements, elevations, and contours, using conventional and GPS methods; maintain accurate notes and records.
  6. Ensure project schedules and productivity goals are met.
  7. Assist with land surveying as needed; training will be provided.
  8. Maintain work vehicle supplies and schedule routine maintenance.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Construction Engineering with coursework in hydrology, hydraulics, soil mechanics, construction, and business; FE exam passed; 2+ years of experience. Preference for experience in municipal and highway design and a desire to pursue PE licensure.
  2. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Civil 3D.
  3. Detail-oriented, self-motivated, independent thinker, with excellent communication and organizational skills. Fluency in English required.
  4. Ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrate initiative, and meet deadlines.
  5. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass drug testing.
  6. Capable of outdoor work, lifting 50-75 pounds, manual labor, walking on uneven terrain, and standing for long periods.
  7. Proven work ethic and reliable commute or willingness to relocate.
