Job summary

Massachusetts Department of Transportation is seeking a Civil Engineer II in Taunton, MA to perform design review and engineering duties for highway projects. The role involves reviewing plans, specifications, estimates, and coordination with municipalities and utilities.

A strong foundation in hydraulics, soils, surveying, and design is required. The position offers full-time work with a standard daytime shift and a potential hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, civil engineering experience in construction, survey, design, transportation, hydraulics, structural, soils or materials.
• At least one year in a professional capacity, or an equivalent combination of required experience.
• Substitutions allow degree majors to reduce required experience.

Responsibilities

• Review consultant submittals and modify plans, specs, and agreements per design criteria and regulations.
• Review federally funded projects at all design stages for conformance with MassDOT and FHWA standards.
• Identify construction issues and propose cost-saving measures.
• Coordinate with municipalities and utilities during design phases.
• Assist in design of State Highway projects following MassDOT standards.
• Prepare design aspects including plans, specs, and estimates; assist with Right of Way plans.
• Attend public meetings and present design information.
• Maintain organized project information and documentation.
