Team Overview

We are seeking a Civil Engineering II to join American Tower’s U.S. Tower division’s Engineering department’s Specialty Engineering team. The team develops infrastructure designs to support telecommunications facilities, including civil sites and small data center solutions. These designs encompass civil engineering for access roads, small to medium-sized buildings, fiber and copper infrastructure, electrical power plants, battery backups, etc., aiming to build scalable and robust network deployment infrastructure.

Job Description

The role involves end-to-end ownership of engineering tasks for land development projects related to data centers, cellular telecommunication sites, and broadcast facilities. You will support internal and external resources to ensure designs meet technical standards and facilitate successful construction and deployment. This position offers valuable experience, mentorship, and skill development across various projects.

Responsibilities

• Utilize tools such as AutoCAD and Civil3D for medium complexity civil engineering, building design, and network infrastructure tasks.
• Act as project manager for infrastructure design projects.
• Train and oversee entry-level engineers and peers.
• Manage multiple project types, understanding project requirements and necessary documentation.
• Prepare civil-site construction drawings compliant with codes and standards, maintaining digital documentation post-construction.
• Lead design strategies for assigned projects.
• Coordinate with external teams managing site-specific designs.
• Continuously learn industry concepts and technologies.
• Implement specialty engineering requirements, such as road layouts, stormwater designs, and structural or electrical codes.
• Manage vendors through detailed scope of work documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 3 years of relevant experience, or an engineering technical degree with 6 years of experience.
• Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and analysis tools for stormwater and retaining wall designs.
• Professional Engineering license preferred.
• At least 2 years of progressive engineering experience in discipline-specific design.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
• Approximately 10% travel required.
• Ability to work independently and in teams, managing multiple tasks efficiently.
