City of Gainesville, GA is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to support planning, design, and inspection of public works projects in the Gainesville area. Under supervision, you will assist with road, bridge, water, and wastewater infrastructure projects while learning to review development plans and ensure compliance with civil engineering standards.

This position is designated as safety-sensitive. As such, a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening are mandatory. The incumbent will also be subject to random drug and alcohol testing throughout the duration of employment.
Under the direction of senior level engineers, manages, plans, designs, and directs construction and maintenance of infrastructure including, but not limited to: roads, bridges, irrigation systems, stormwater ponds, pipes and structures, wastewater reclamation and water treatment structures and facilities, and water distribution and sanitary sewer conveyance systems. Performs technical research to develop solutions to engineering problems. Assists with private development permitting by reviewing engineering plans.
Under the direction of senior level engineers reviews the design plans of community development projects, such as subdivisions, commercial, and industrial developments; confers with engineering, land surveying, and architectural firms to advise and explain various design plan corrections required by Engineering.
Assists Civil Engineer II's conduct inspections of community development projects to assure minimum construction standards, road construction materials, and infrastructures meet or exceed required minimum specifications.
Provides technical information to contractors and developers relating to building or maintaining highways, bridges, drainage systems, and other engineering and public works projects.
Assists Civil Engineer II's conduct field surveys, hydrology studies and/or other engineering studies and assists in designing public works related projects.
Under the direction of senior level engineers reviews all new commercial, industrial and subdivision construction plans to ensure compliance to the Soil Erosion and Sediment Control codes and ordinances.
Performs other related duties as required.
