The position involves independent work under a licensed PE, mentorship from senior engineers, and engagement in design tasks including hydraulics and stormwater calculations. Travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university.

• Software: Microsoft Office Suite, Autodesk Civil 3D, Bluebeam Revu.
• Understanding of the practical application of civil engineering to project design.
• Knowledge of civil design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Work independently or under direct supervision of a licensed PE.
• Receive training and mentorship from experienced civil design engineers.
• Apply knowledge of materials, hydraulic analysis, utility design, and roadway geometry to designs.
• Work as part of a team and independently.
• Research unfamiliar knowledge and techniques from manuals and resources.
• Perform calculations, coordinate design elements, and document specs.
• Calculate stormwater runoff, slopes, and quantities.
• Communicate clearly with coworkers, clients, and the public.
• Travel to client sites for reviews and field verifications.
• Pass screening and background checks for site access.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The client is currently seeking to hire a full time Civil Engineer EI to join our team of engineers and technical specialists at our Coralville or Cedar Rapids office. A successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth and success of the company.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university.
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer Intern (EI). With interest in obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Required Software Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, basic knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D, and Bluebeam Revu.
• An understanding of the practical application of civil engineering including applying principles, techniques, and procedures to a project design.
• Knowledge of civil design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, reports, drawings, and models.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work independently or under the direct supervision of a licensed PE.
• Receive training and mentorship from experienced civil design engineers.

TASKS & ABILITIES
