Job summary

BL Companies in Hartford, CT is seeking an entry- to mid-level Civil Engineer to join our Land Development team. The role offers hands-on experience from concept planning through construction documentation on residential, commercial, and industrial sites, with hybrid work options.

You will use AutoCAD and Civil 3D to prepare designs, ensure zoning compliance, and support permit approvals. A Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and strong communication and organizational skills are required; an EIT

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent required.
• EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil site designs for land development projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Assist in site layout and grading to meet local zoning requirements.
• Design stormwater management and erosion control systems.
• Research permit requirements and local regulations to support project approvals.
• Prepare construction documents, technical reports, and entitlement documents.
• Perform earthwork calculations and drainage analysis.
• Support permit acquisition and modifications during construction.

This role focuses on gaining hands‑on experience in site development projects across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, from concept planning through construction documentation.

Key Responsibilities
