Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen Inc (GPI) seeks an Entry-Level Civil Site Engineer to join our growing team in Massachusetts. You will gain hands-on experience in site design, grading, drainage, and utility design while supporting projects across land development, transportation, municipal, and infrastructure sectors.

You will work with experienced engineers to prepare drawings, calculations, and reports, using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• EIT certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
• Internship, co-op, or relevant engineering experience is a plus.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, site development, grading, drainage, and utility design.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, design, and development of site engineering projects (commercial, residential, transportation, municipal).
• Prepare engineering design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports under supervision.
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop site plans and construction documents.
• Support grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design efforts.
• Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and surveyors.
• Perform site visits and field inspections to collect data and monitor progress.
• Assist with permit applications and regulatory submissions.
• Review construction documents for compliance with project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to technical problem-solving.

• Prepare engineering design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports under the supervision of senior engineers.

• Support grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility, erosion and sediment control, and roadway design efforts.
• Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and surveyors.
• Perform site visits and field inspections to collect data, evaluate existing conditions, and monitor construction progress.
• Assist with permit applications and regulatory submissions.
• Review construction documents and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to technical problem‑solving discussions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
• Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year preferred.
• Internship, co‑op, or relevant engineering experience is a plus.
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, site development, grading, drainage, and utility design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Skills:

• Exposure to land development, transportation, water resources, or municipal engineering projects.
• Experience with stormwater modeling software such as HydroCAD is a plus.
• Understanding of local, state, and federal permitting processes.
• Desire to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Requirements:

• Maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration.
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members.
• Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or 19" (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.).
• Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working.
