Job summary

The Transportation Department at GBA in Austin, Texas seeks a Civil Engineer, E.I.T. to join our multi-disciplinary roadways team, working on geometric design, drainage, and construction planning.

You’ll collaborate with design teams across Kansas, Missouri, and Texas, perform field visits, prepare plans in AutoCAD or MicroStation, and coordinate with utilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
• 0-2 years of experience
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
• Experience in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Geometric Design and 3-D Modeling, including intersection and interchange design
• Evaluation and design of multi-modal facilities and corridors from planning to final design
• Roadside Safety Evaluation and Design
• Basic Hydrology & Hydraulic design
• Development of Construction Sequencing, Traffic Control Plans
• Quantity development and tabulation, Cost Estimation, Quality Assurance Reviews
• Field Visits

Job: Civil Engineer, E.I.T. (Roadways)

Location: Austin, TX

The Transportation Department at GBA is looking for a civil engineer to join our team at our office in Austin, Texas. This position will work with a multi-disciplined team on roadway engineering design, supporting working in our Kansas, Missouri, and Texas offices.

What You'll Do:

Municipal/Highway Design Responsibilities:

• Geometric Design and 3-D Modeling, including intersection and interchange design
• Evaluation and design of multi-modal (automobile, pedestrian, bicycle, transit, freight) facilities and corridors, from the planning stage to final design and bidding documents
• Roadside Safety Evaluation and Design
• Basic Hydrology & Hydraulic design, including cross-road structures and enclosed storm sewers
• Development of Construction Sequencing, Traffic Control Plans, Erosion Control Plans for Construction
• Quantity development and tabulation, Cost Estimation, Standard Specification review and development, Quality Control/Quality Assurance Reviews
• Field Visits
• Utility Coordination
• Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
• 0-2 years of experience
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Experience in using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
• Possess effective communication skills both written and oral
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Experience using the following software is a plus: Synchro / SimTraffic, VISSIM, RSAP, HSM, AutoTurn, HY-8, HEC-RAS, Revu or Adobe
