Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking an civil/environmental engineer to contribute to municipal water and wastewater projects across the Southeast. You will create drawings with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, develop design calculations, and coordinate with clients and regulators.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree, EIT or ability to obtain within six months, and at least two years of AutoCAD experience. Growth is supported through mentoring and formal training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental/Chemical engineering; Master’s preferred.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Minimum 2 years of AutoCAD design experience.
• Experience with pump stations or municipal water/wastewater facilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Develop specifications, calculations, and flow diagrams for water/wastewater projects.

What you'll do:

• Prepare engineering drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Develop technical specifications, design calculations, and process flow diagrams for water and wastewater projects
• Assist with the planning and design of municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities
• Support the design and permitting of wastewater pump station projects
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies throughout project development
• Assist with permit applications and supporting documentation
• Review and refine project designs to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements
• Support project delivery efforts to meet scope, schedule, and budget objectives

What you bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, Master's degree preferred but not required
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or ability to obtain within six months of hire
• 2+ years of experience utilizing AutoCAD for engineering design
• Experience in the design of pump stations and municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities preferred
• Basic understanding of wastewater treatment principles
• Experience with permitting processes and client/contractor coordination is a plus
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Excel,BioWin experience preferred but not required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assignments effectively
• Client-service mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow professionally
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills
