Job summary

NAVFAC in the United States is seeking an experienced civil engineer to execute a broad range of in-house design work and oversee QA of submissions from A/E firms. The role includes site visits, cost analyses, and ongoing construction QA support for active projects.

The ideal candidate will have professional engineering accreditation or EI/EIT/PE licensure, with experience in site development, roads, airfields, and utility systems, using industry-standard software including AutoCAD and WBGD.

Qualifications

• Producing and developing civil engineering design packages, including budgeting, design drawings, plans, specifications and design-build RFPs.
• Reviewing civil engineering design submissions to provide subject matter expert acceptance recommendations to officials.
• Providing a wide range of shore-based engineering projects relating to site developments, roads, airfields, water supply, sewer, drainage, dredging, and shore protection.
• Providing civil engineering design consultation services utilizing software such as WBGD, AutoCAD, Autodesk, Microsoft and other engineering design tools.

Responsibilities

• Execute in-house civil engineering design work products within milestones and quality standards.
• Perform QA review of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies prepared by A/E design firms.
• Conduct site investigation field trips to project sites.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, and cost analyses; prepare written and oral presentations on structural topics.
• Assist with construction quality assurance including submittal reviews, RFIs, QA site visits and inspections, commissioning, and project closeout.
