Job summary

Giga Energy is seeking a Civil Engineer to contribute to the full lifecycle of our site development projects, from feasibility through construction execution. You will support site assessments, design development, and compliance activities with mentorship from senior engineers.

The ideal candidate has hands-on CAD skills and thrives both at a desk and on construction sites, with in-office culture and full-time onsite expectations in our hubs (San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited institution.
• 2–4 years of experience in land development, industrial construction, or data center infrastructure.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, or similar BIM software.
• Working knowledge of hydrology, soil mechanics, and reinforced concrete design.
• PE license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing site layouts, including grading plans, drainage systems, utility routing, and foundation design under senior engineer guidance.
• Conduct site assessments, gather geotechnical data, and contribute to environmental impact studies to support project viability determinations.
• Research and apply local zoning laws and building codes; support the permitting process with municipal and state agencies.
• Contribute to project schedules and budgets; assist with vendor coordination under senior oversight.
• Support structural calculations for specialized equipment housing (e.g., pads for cooling units, heavy electrical infrastructure).
• Perform site inspections to verify construction alignment with engineering specifications and safety standards; document findings.
