Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer with 6+ years of aviation experience to join the Aviation team in Honolulu, Hawaii. The role supports airside and landside design, including runway and taxiway projects, in a collaborative, design-centered environment.

The position requires a Civil Engineering degree, U.S. citizenship, and a hybrid work schedule with in-office presence in Honolulu. A PE license is preferred or achievable within 6–12 months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 6+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, preferably aviation/Transportation infrastructure.
• U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support design tasks related to airfield infrastructure: runways, taxiways, aprons, pavement, grading, and stormwater systems.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents in compliance with FAA, state, and local standards.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including subconsultants and internal groups (structural, electrical, geotechnical).
• Provide support during construction phases: site visits, submittal reviews, and RFI responses.
• Interface with clients, stakeholders, and permitting agencies to support project delivery.
• Contribute to project management activities: scope, schedule, and budget tracking under senior staff.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their technical development.

AECOM is actively seeking aCivil Engineer with 6+ years of aviation-related experienceto join our Aviation team. This position is based in Honolulu, Hawaii, though we are also open to qualified applicants inother locations within the State of Hawaii.

The successful candidate will support a wide range ofairside and landside design projectsat commercial service and general aviation airports. You’ll be working on projects ranging fromrunway and taxiway design to grading, drainage, utility coordination, and construction administrationin a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead or support design tasks related toairfield infrastructure: runways, taxiways, aprons, pavement, grading, and stormwater systems.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 6+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, preferably with a focus on aviation or transportation infrastructure or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional Engineer (PE) licenseor ability to obtain within 6-12 months.
• Previous experience working onairport projects(Part 139 airports, FAA-funded projects).
• Familiarity withconstruction administration and QA/QC procedures.
• Strong working knowledge ofFAA design criteriaand engineering standards.
• Proficiency inAutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite, and standard design tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel periodically for client meetings and site visits.
• This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Honolulu.
• Sponsorship for US work authorization isnot availablefor this position now or in the future.
