Job summary

Day & Zimmermann, through DZMCEngineering, seeks a Civil Engineer 4 to lead complex projects and provide expert engineering guidance. You will drive scopes, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure design quality while leveraging your PE license to stamp essential documents.

You will mentor junior engineers, manage staffing and budgets, and maintain client engagement to deliver successful outcomes across civil and structural disciplines.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited degree in civil or structural engineering.
  • PE license required.
  • Minimum 12 years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Proven track record managing medium-sized projects with budget, schedule, and staff oversight.
  • Familiarity with current codes, regulations, and industry trends.

Responsibilities

As the Civil Engineer 4, here is the work you'll do:
  • Provide comprehensive technical guidance and expertise within the civil engineering discipline, ensuring all elements of assigned projects meet and exceed industry standards.
  • Lead the development and continuous assessment of project scopes, proactively identifying scope changes and evaluating their impacts on timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts seamlessly, fostering productive collaboration across various engineering specialties and client teams to ensure cohesive project outcomes.
  • Oversee quality assurance by meticulously reviewing design work and documentation to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and constructibility requirements.
  • Assume responsibility for project deliverables by applying your Professional Engineer (PE) certification to stamp necessary project documents, demonstrating accountability and professional integrity.
  • Manage the administrative and supervisory aspects of assigned projects, including the formulation of staffing plans, budget oversight, and schedule adherence to guarantee successful project completion.
  • Mentor and support the growth of junior engineers and project team members, promoting a culture of knowledge sharing, professional development, and high performance.
  • This multifaceted role requires an individual who is both detail-oriented and visionary, capable of balancing technical precision with strategic project management to deliver exceptional engineering solutions.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Demonstrated strong organizational capabilities adept at managing multiple concurrent projects, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Broad and deep technical expertise within civil and structural engineering disciplines, enabling innovative problem-solving and informed decision-making.

And if you have these qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or a qualification deemed acceptable by the State Board of Engineers for professional engineer licensure. A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering, demonstrating expertise in project execution, engineering best practices, and leadership within the field.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, underscoring your commitment to professional standards and ethical engineering practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing medium-sized projects, including budgetary oversight, scheduling, and staff management.
  • Familiarity with the latest codes, regulations, and industry trends relevant to civil engineering to ensure compliance and innovation.

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $114,960.00 - $172,440.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
