Job summary

KLJ is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team, supporting infrastructure projects across site data analysis, design, and field observations. This role blends office work with on-site activities, requiring strong analytical skills and precise technical writing. Travel may be project-dependent.

Entry-level to experienced engineers are encouraged to apply. A Bachelor's in Civil Engineering is required, with EIT preferred and PE licensure welcomed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required or closely related discipline.
  • EIT certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
  • PE licensure welcomed and supported.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, compile, and analyze site data including surveys, GIS data, blueprints, subsurface utilities, maps, and geotechnical information.
  • Assist with or lead design tasks for civil infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct site observations to evaluate existing and proposed conditions.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Verify site characteristics and assist with environmental, design, and construction-related considerations.
  • Document field activities and generate accurate project records.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure compliance with codes, permits, and standards.
  • Participate in field work, construction observation, and client meetings.
  • Contribute to safety, accountability, and ethical decision-making.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline required.
  • EIT certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
  • PE licensure welcomed and supported.
Experience
  • Entry-level candidates to experienced engineers encouraged to apply.
  • Relevant internship, co-op, or professional experience in civil infrastructure projects preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Familiarity with civil design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar).
  • Basic understanding of design/build processes.
  • Working knowledge of environmental and construction regulations.
  • Technical writing and documentation skills.

Work Environment
  • 40 hours per week
  • Occasional travel depending on project needs
